The New Hanover County Digital Archives provides access to collections that tell the history of Southeastern, North Carolina. Much of it has been handed down through several former public and private libraries dating back to the Cape Fear Library of 1760. Although emphasis has been placed on collecting information about Wilmington, New Hanover County, NC and the Lower Cape Fear Region, the collection includes materials from across the State. Photographs and manuscripts from the archives at the New Hanover County Public Library are featured. Also in the collection are postcards, maps, "Wilmington Star-News" articles, various letters, and pamphlets from family collections, covering the 19th and 20th centuries. The New Hanover County Digital Archives contains materials that are owned by the Library, private owners, and institutions. Some collections may require special permission for use of the photographs and other documents available on this site. A "Condition of Use Agreement" form must be signed when permission is granted.
