Plaque Text	Greek Revival style building constructed for residential and commercial use, for William Destrac (1807 -1867), baker. Born in France, he emigrated to Wilmington in 1827. From 1845 to 1865 residence of Captain Robert George Rankin (1819-1865), commission merchant; and wife, Susan Althalia Brown (1817-1862). He commanded Confederate Company A, First Battalion, North Carolina Artillery and was killed at the Battle of Bentonville. Over the years the building has been occupied by apartments, retail establishments and bars.
