About this collection

From 1989 to 2019, the Old New Hanover Genealogy Society (ONHGS) helped to document the history of Wilmington, New Hanover County, and the lower Cape Fear Region.  The society produced a quarterly publication known as the Clarendon Courier.  Clarendon County was one of three counties authorized by the Lords Proprietors of Carolina in 1664.  Clarendon County was named for Edward Hyde, Earl of Clarendon.  The Clarendon Courier ceased publication in March 2019.
