John London Dudley (1846-1901) enlisted in the 2nd Regiment North Carolina Artillery, Company D, in New Hanover County at age 18 on May 11, 1864. He was wounded and captured at Ft. Fisher on January 15, 1865. He was confined to Pt. Lookout in Maryland until he took the oath of allegiance on June 26, 1865. He married Anna Carlina Strauss Haar in 1875 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilmington, NC. They were the parents of Mary Khrone Dudley Roberts, born 1876, whose family papers were donated to the New Hanover County Public Library by her great-nephew, William W. Roberts in 2004. Dudley is buried in Oakdale Cemetery
